Hi, I’m Karl! I’ve been writing code since the 90s.

If you’ve ever scanned a gift card or credit card with your camera, there’s a decent chance you’ve used my technology. I’ve worked on computer vision and Machine Learning(ML) tech that millions of people use every day (but can’t say more than that 🤐).

These days I’m obsessed with what’s possible when you pair human creativity with AI capabilities. Claude is my coding partner and together we resurrect dead code, build weird experiments, and see how far we can push AI-assisted development.

This blog is our lab notebook. Sometimes it’s AI and machine learning. Sometimes it’s reviving 25-year-old code. Sometimes it’s just whatever catches interest that week.

Join me in exploring this brave new world. Will AI replace humans? Or can we create something where, as Steve Jobs said about the Beatles, “they were four guys who kept each other’s negative tendencies in check… the total was greater than the sum of the parts.”

That’s what I’m betting on not AI replacing humans but humans and AI keeping each other’s weaknesses in check while amplifying our strengths.
